A Review by NTX - Real Techniques Sam's Picks Brush Set

Ola beautiful people!

I hope everyone’s doing well and enjoyed your weekends! A quick update, while other families wrapped up their Raya visitings weeks ago, I am just about done with mine! Boy am I glad to finally be able to get catch up on some rest. The lack of rest plus excessive consumption of Raya food really took a toll on my skin. I can’t stress this enough, drink plenty of water guys! It not only helps to keep your body hydrated, it also flushes all the toxins from your body! You know what else helps? Tea. And my current favourites are honey lemon tea or green tea for it’s health benefits. But that’s not what’s this post is about!

Today I will be reviewing on my recent purchase, the Real Techniques Sam’s Picks Brush Set. Real Techniques (RT) brushes are highly raved as a must-haves for most beauty lovers considering its reasonable price and excellent quality. The only downside to it, it’s not available in SG stores and constantly out of stock in Luxola. I finally managed to get my hands on them from Automatiqhigh during a pre-order she organised. It’s still ongoing if you’re interested! So what are you waiting for?? Head on to Market by Automatiqhigh and get yours now!

This is my first set of RT brushes and I don’t think there’s other better options to begin with other than the Sam’s Picks Brush Set itself! This set was launched by Samantha Chapman, from Pixiwoo, which consists of 5 of her favourite picks and 1 newly released brush exclusively for this set.

Let's begin with the Multi-task Brush which is meant "for effortless application of powder, blush and bronzer". The fluffy fanned brush is great for applying light blusher and contouring without caking it. I do find the bristles aren't dense enough for applying my powder foundation since I prefer buffing them on. Overall, I just love just how this brush glides onto my skin leaving a flawless sweep of colour from my blush and bronzer.

Moving on to the Setting Brush, it is aimed to "complete any look with a controlled dusting of powder or highlight". The size of this brush is perfect for setting the concealer under your eyes, application of highlight to the high points of your cheeks and precision contouring at the sides of your nose! This to me, just made it to my top favourite brushes.

Another one of my favourite/everyday brushes would be the Buffing brush! It's "ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation". If you're looking for an airbrush finish look, this is what you should go for. It's soft and densely packed bristles works perfectly well for application of liquid foundation. Ermmm.. I might need another one of this!

Next, the Pointed Foundation Brush is to "use with liquid foundation to custom coverage". Looking at the size of this brush, there is no way I'm using this as a foundation brush. Instead, I used it as a concealer brush. The tapered tip is great to tool to clean up those messy eyeshadow application at the sides of your eyes too!

The Essential Crease Brush (the exclusive brush) is a "soft, tapered design for effortless contouring". I absolutely LOVE this brush! I love how stiff the bristles are for precise eyeshadow application. It glides on my crease and blends so perfectly! I've tried many crease brushes, but none came close to this one.

And finally, the Fine Liner Brush, the "ultimate tool for precision application of liquid and cream eyeliner". Eventhough this brush is great for application of cream eyeliner, this would be the least used brush from the set since most of our eyeliners comes with it's applicators.

Overall, I'm absolutely happy with this purchase considering that I only spent $45 for 6 excellent quality brushes! The bristles doesn't shed and it dries very quickly. All these brushes are made from synthetic hair, so they're cruelty free. If you haven't gotten your hands on them, I highly recommend this to you!

I hope you've enjoyed this post as much as I did! Till the next entry!

Wanderlust - Bali 2012

My addiction to traveling and exploring other parts of the world starts from here. Though I haven't really been to THAT many places, I'm contented with where I have been. Every trip or place is unique in it's own way and I'm most delighted to share my best experiences with you in my travelogue series! This is where it begins....

“Nora, I’m getting married.” as I shriek with excitement, Tjio added, “In Bali. Will you come?” I accepted his invitation in a blink! And the next thing I know, I was already securing all the travel arrangements such as flight and accommodation. This was our first experience traveling on free and easy and with such limited time there, itinerary had to be carefully planned.

Our choice of accommodation was InterContinental(IC) Bali Resort, which was highly recommended by my colleagues. From the moment I stepped out of Denpasar immigration, I had nothing but endless compliments for IC Bali. We were greeted to a black Mercedes as our hotel transfer for an approximately 15 to 20 minutes journey, with compliments from IC Bali. Check in was a breeze as the staffs directed us to the Business Lounge for our welcome drink. If I may add, it is in IC Bali that I experienced the warmest hospitality! I recalled being addressed and greeted by name in all my encounters with their staffs. Talk about Wow factor!

And did I tell you we got a complimentary room upgrade?? Total VIP mode on! The room was spacious, beds and pillows are of excellent quality. Two thumbs up for our room!

Located along Jimbaran Beach, we were just walking distance from the famous beachside restaurant! Dining as we gazed to the beautiful sunset across the bay. Still don’t believe me? Let me feast your eyes to these beautiful images.

Oh! Say hello to mum!

While mum took the chance to enjoy our room all to herself, I made my way to Tjio's wedding, which was held at Bulgari Hotels & Resorts Bali. I must say, Bulgari lived up to its stature. The moment I stepped foot at the lobby, we were greeted by the breathtaking scenery right before our eyes. Trust me, superlatives are an understatement!

And that's my beautiful bestfriend/childhood friend, Nana. You'll see her a lot in my upcoming posts!

Tjio and Pamela chose what they called a Water Wedding.

The altar is set upon a transparent carpet gently floating on the surface of the Water Pond. A truly unique experience, for a wedding ceremony held in from of the infinity of the Indian Ocean

Though we didn't have much time in Bali, we still managed to do a quick tour around the popular touristy places! Well we are tourists after all!

If given the chance, I would gladly give Bali a second visit for more exploration! I appreciate how rich Bali is in terms of it's culture and natural resources. Time wasn't on our side but that didn't hinder us from enjoying this very relaxing getaway. After all, it's always good to take a break from the hustle and bustle of our roaring city!

I know a 2012 travelogue seems too backdated. But hey! Nothing's wrong with doing a little #throwback right? Hope you've enjoyed my #throwback as much as I did. So have you been to Bali?? Share with me your experience in the comments section below!

Till the next entry!
