My Skincare Routine

Sipping on a cup of warm manuka honey green tea to soothe my 'swinging of moods' during that time of the month. Ahhhh... how comforting. As i'm writing this entry, my Chinese friends should be gathering with their loved ones for a reunion dinner. So here's wishing all my Chinese friends a very happy and prosperous new year, Gong Xi Fa Cai! *and I never end it at that* Hong bao na lai! I accept masters, visas and even funds transfers guys. Take your pick!

Once you're done with that, we can get on to this week's post! If it can't get anymore obvious, what I'm about to bring to you today is, lo and behold, in my opinion, the 'best-estestest' skincare routine everrrr. I know most of you may have your own array of preferred skincare products but these to me are the game changer to my skin woes.

Are you one of those who gets home, hop on your bed without removing your makeup or quickly wash off your make up with a cleanser and you're done? You and I my friend, need to do some serious talking right now.

This is my story...  Once upon a time... On a land far far away...  A couple of years back, Nana and I had our fair share of lecture by Mel on our stay-cation one night. We had zero knowledge on skincare; all we knew was we needed to 'cleanse' our face before bedtime and tadaaa! we THOUGHT we're done. I can't describe how flabbergasted Mel was. She whipped out a few cotton pads soaked in makeup remover and looking at all the makeup residue despite the cleanse, was a painful sight.

After that enlightening night, I've got no one but Mel to thank. Mel is more like the big sister to us, always sharing some wise advices. She taught us basics of a proper skincare routine and got myself a complete skincare range the following day! If I had only known much earlier....... I could have done more product reviews! HAHAHA!

My skincare routine has evolved over the years and gradually, I'm switching them to organic products. Your skin needs as much pampering as all the other organs does. So kick your bad habits goodbye and start your skincare proper!

I've tried many makeup removers but NOTHING beats the good ol' Olive Oil which I bet, is sitting on your kitchen counter top right now. It melts down the most stubborn makeup in an instant and doesn't strip the natural oils on your face. Tip: add 1/3 of water/rose water to give that cooling effect.

Once you're done with removing your makeup, cleanse and tone your face using your favourite products. Its important to not leave your pores open! If you don't have a toner, you can opt for organic products such as rose water or apple cider vinegar. They're probably already in you kitchen right now. My cleanser and toner are prescribed by my dermatologist. Remember to be gentle so as to not aggravate your skin.

Hydrate your skin. Even in this humid SG weather your skin still gets dry from the harsh UV rays. My two favourite moisturiser are Apicare Manuka Honey day creme and Origins Ginzing.

The Origins Ginzing has a gel-like consistency which is perfect to use for the day. This just reminded me to get a new one cus i've obviously ran out of it! Meanwhile, the Apicare Manuka Honey moisturiser has a thicker consistency which makes it more suitable for the night time.

Don't forget to hydrate your eye area and lips too! Looking at one's dry lips are my ultimate pet peeve. The Apicare Manuka Honey lip balm is very long lasting. Application is twice a day; once in the morning and another before bedtime.

P.S. Apicare products are available at Metro Centrepoint and Honeyworld in Clifford centre.

These are some of the extra steps you can add to your skincare.

Weekends are usually my skin pampering days when I mask up. I will alternate between the Origins out of trouble mask and the Manuka Honey. Did I say Manuka Honey?? Yeap! You heard that right. I apply Manuka Honey directly on my face! Here's why....

But manuka honey belongs on your bathroom shelf as much as it does in a medical clinic or hospital.

Because it also keeps skin clear, youthful, and hydrated.

Manuka honey works wonders for blemished skin because of its aforementioned natural antibacterial properties. It is also a potent anti-inflammatory, so soothes inflamed skin while healing blemishes. It also helps balance the skin’s pH and contains amino acids which slough away dead skin cells, helping to keep pores clear. In other words: this sticky-sweet substance is your problem skin’s best friend (or worst enemy, depending on which way you want to look at it).

MG has been shown to increase collagen cross-linking, promoting the structural growth of collagen in skin cells. And since amino acids are the building blacks of collagen, they also protect collagen. Healthy collagen means healthy, firm, youthful-looking skin.

Helps skin retain moisture.

Manuka honey is a natural humectant, drawing moisture into the skin. This hydration helps to further enhance the skin’s elasticity and cell regeneration, as well as promote healing.

That's all for my skincare routine guys! Hope to get my hands on other products real soon.. Glam glow masks, Clarisonic and etc. I would love to know what your game changers are. Hit the comment button down below!

Hope everyone have had a wonderful long weekend cus I know I did! Nazz is hitting the Big-3 really soon and I'm psyched to be a part of it. A year older, a year wiser my love.

Hong Kong Beauty Haul

Hi everyone! If you don't already know, I was in Hong Kong a couple of weeks back. Rumour has it, this place is a shopping paradise. But I have to disagree. Okay maybe I'm not being entirely fair here because since it was winter, all I could find was winter wear. And obviously, I ain't buying no winter clothes for SG's weather! Eventhough there's H&M, Forever 21 and etc, we can already find them here in SG. And if you think shopping in HK is cheap, think again.

I was impressed by the MTR. Although it's constantly filled with commuters, they sure get from one place to another in a jiffy. That's because the arrival frequency is at every 1-3 minutes; and the train is double the length compared to our MRT. No delays or technical faults whatsoever. Kudos HK MTR! The only thing which becomes a hassle is going up the stairs cus there are exits without escalators or elevators. First world problem much?? Haha! But hey, I think they really need to look into this with the whole ageing population issue.

Before I move on, here's to excite you with some visuals of Hong Kong from a mandatory visit to The Peak and Tsim Sha Tsui!

What I love most about this bustling city is the narrow lanes, crowds, signages after signages, conceptual cafes, and good food! If I have anything else to blame for the lack of shopping was being too busy getting lost; looking for Halal eateries. It was worth it!

Hong Kong is also really big on is skincare. Shops like Bonjour, Sasa and Colourmix are hard to miss; they're literally everywhere! For the most part, I get too fickle on what to get! Here's updating you my finds from Hong Kong:

TADAAA! First up is the teeth whitening and polishing kit, White-T. Cosmetic dental procedures can burn a big hole in your pocket. So no harm DIY-ing them right? Knowing that this is going to be my first attempt on teeth whitening, it can be quite daunting. Hope it doesn't burn my gums or something. Haha! Here's a little write up on what magic it's supposed to do your teeth. I've yet to give this one a try. If all goes well *fingers crossed*, you'll get see a review on this ;p
White-T whitening and Polishing Powder is a revolutionary take-home whitening treatment. Adopting advanced USA blu-ray teeth whitening technology, White-T has proved to deliver whitening effect in only 3 days.
The kit includes Advanced Teeth Whitening Powder, Professional Teeth Polishing Powder, Intelligent Ionic Toothbrush that bring you excellent dental maintenance and gorgeous new smile.
The polishing powder facilitates deep tooth cleaning and removing of plaque, calculus (tartar), and stain from your teeth. Its unique combination of ingredients with BCC (Blue-ray Polishing Compound Crystal) reduces tartar effectively, prevents plaque from calcifying, helps get your whitest, most polished and healthiest smile ever!

Moving on to my favourite purchase, is this 100% certified Organic Bulgarian Rose Water! Don't you just love multi-purpose products?? I used this for my hair, as a toner, make up setter and as a mid-day moisturiser when I need a little spritz of pure freshness!

Here's a list of it's benefits and uses extracted from Alteya Organics:

Next up! i-MIIX Green Tea Cleansing Water for the face, eyes, and lips. Bought this one cus I wanted  try an alternative to the Bioderma Cleansing Water that I've been using for the past 2 years before switching to Olive Oil. Way before that I used make up wipes remover, the formula leaves my skin feeling very greasy which is definitely not suitable for my skin. Cleansing water on the other hand is more gentle to the skin and it doesn't clog the pores. But it takes double the effort to remove waterproof eye makeup.

In terms of removing stubborn eye make up, I don't know how this one fairs yet. The pump dispenser comes in really handy and hygienic.

This one right here is my holy grail product to keep the pimples and acnes at bay. Bought 4 of these babies just to stock up! I'll apply directly to on my face at night to treat my problematic skin after a whole day in an air-conditioned room, exposed to hard uv rays and pollution.

At any time you feel a pimple is developing, pack this on that little bugger and POOF! It'll be gone the next morning.

Here's what Body Shop has to say about their best selling product:
Our best-selling Tea Tree Oil is a natural, targeted solution to help clear blemishes quickly and effectively without over-drying the skin. Renowned for its anti-bacterial benefits, the Tea Tree Oil also helps to soothe blemished skin.
Ingredients:Community Trade organic tea tree oil from Kenya - an ingredient renowned for its anti-bacterial benefits, an infusion perfect to help blemished skin
Tamanu Oil from Madagascar - traditionally used to promote healthy-looking skin and has fantastic skin moisturising properties
Lemon Tea Tree from Kenya - Anti-bacterial to give the products a zesty fragrance

This Dolly Wink lash adhesive is a random purchase. I RARELY put on fake lashes. How ironic cus I actually have tons of them sitting in my drawer, collecting dust. But you'll never know when it will come in handy!

Aren't they just the cutest?? They looks so yummy I almost ate them! Haha okay I exaggerated.

It consists of 5 different ingredients which consists of Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen, Q10, Red Wine Polyphenols, Canadian Glacial Mud. All these goodness. I can't wait to try them!

That's all for my HK beauty haul! I'm excited to give them a try and probably do a review or two. Do let me know which you would like me to review! Until then..... till the next entry!
