A Review by NTX - Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation and Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser

Say Hello to these new additions to my beauty stash!

About a couple of weeks ago, I was on a search mission for foundations; both liquid and powder foundation. I noticed that I've turned a shade or two lighter, plus! I've hit pan on my powder foundation. So, it's the best time for me to explore and discover new products!

Given that I have a combination to oily skin, I was looking for the perfect formula which may combat shine and lightweight; to gives a smooth natural finish.

And that is how the Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation caught my attention. It claims to give a matte rose petal finish and you guessed it right! It smells of chocolate!

Here's the description I got from Too Faced website. Now you tell me, what's there not to love???:
Indulge in our Cocoa Powder Foundation that glides on seamlessly, blending into skin for a weightless, plush-matte, rose petal finish. Infused with our Exclusive Cocoa Complex, this antioxidant-rich, oil-absorbing, non-drying powder defends against free radicals, while minimizing the appearance of fine lines and pores. More than a powder foundation, it hides imperfections while improving the appearance and feel of skin for total complexion perfection. Its decadent chocolate scent smells as good as it feels.
  • Exclusive Cocoa Complex is a proprietary blend of antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and moisturizing cocoa butter that work together to hydrate and smooth skin and boost your mood
  • Eight flexible shades work on almost any skin tone
  • Oil-absorbing
  • Medium-to-full undetectable coverage
  • Hyaluronic filling spheres diminish the appearance of fine lines and pores and aid with long-lasting hydration
  • Crystalline Powder is made up of hexagonal-shaped platelets that slide over each other to bring out skin’s natural radiance while added pearl powder creates a soft focus effect leaving skin with a luminous rose petal finish
  • Vegan Friendly
  • Paraben Free

Applied with the soft pink sponge provided, it gives a smooth matte finish as claimed. And it's buildable from a light to medium coverage. For someone who isn't blessed with flawless blemish-free skin like mua, I'd suggest that you apply concealer, tinted moisturiser or even liquid foundation for a full coverage.

The only downside, is the length of wear. The foundation is definitely not long wearing as I found myself blotting a couple of times throughout the day. For this, I'd suggest a face primer for the foundation to last longer.

Only 3 shades was available in Sephora retailing at S$48. I picked up the shade Medium Tan as it matches me perfectly. Don't wait too long to indulge in yourself in the Cocoa Powder Foundation!

My next beauty purchase is the highly raved Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser!

I would consider this tinted moisturiser as the perfect on-the-go product for a day to day light or lazy day makeup. I love how it doesn't only evens out my skin tone, my skin also gets hydrated and protected with the moisturising formula and SPF 20!

It comes in a tube packaging which allows you to have more control when dispensing the product.

Here's what this product claims to be from the Laura Mercier website

What it is: A perfect blend of skincare and makeup that helps control oil breakthrough and gives skin a sheer hint of colour for a healthy, natural glow..
What it is formulated to do: Laura Mercier created this product to give skin a healthy ‘no-makeup’ look with a soft hint of colour that evens and enhances without hiding the skin. This oil-free lightweight formula provides ideal protection from the sun’s harmful, damaging rays with broad spectrum SPF 20 UVB/UVA sunscreen. Perfect for all skin types, especially sensitive or oily skin.
Basically, this is an all-in-one product! And it's buildable from a sheer to medium coverage. This is by far, the only tinted moisturiser that i've encountered with a wide range of tones. I find Almond as perfect match for me!

This is retailing at S$70 in Sephora if you're planning to get your hands on them!

I'm still trying to figure out my love and hate relationship with it's 'natural glow'. For someone with a combination to oily skin, the 'glow' may appear too shiny for my liking. That could also be because I didn't apply a primer beforehand. I find putting on a primer defeats the whole purpose of a quick, fuss-free and lazy makeup.

I noticed it turned a shade darker when I mixed it with another product. I'm not quite sure why but please do let me know if this happens to you too!

The formula is lightweight for a smooth application. Application with both fingertips or buffing brush gives a perfect finish. And then I'll set it with my powder foundation as such:

I'm having a lazy day today after a busy weekend. Happy Monday guys! and Happy Lazy Day for me! Till the next entry....... CIAO!
